About Us

Connecting Our Community Through Food & God’s Love

God calls us to love one another and to tend to those less fortune. This ministry is one of the ways we can
give back to the local community and spread God’s love.

Our Story

Bringing God’s Love To The Community.

Lake Norman Food Mission is an agency of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and also a ministry at Denver Wesleyan Church. We serve over 500 families a month, distributing around 40 000 lbs of food. This also offers an opportunity for our church family to give back to the community and to be the hands and feet of Christ.

Why WE Do it

A Call To Feed

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, “I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Matt 25:35-36

Reaching Those In Need

We strive to love our community and help those who are in need. There is enough waste that we work to lessen waste and give to those who could use our excess.
“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
Rom 12:13

Touching Souls

Food is just one way that we reach the community. Our pastoral staff also shares the love and word of God with each participant, prays with and for them, and cares about more than just giving a meal.
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ”  James 5:17

Rooted in the Community

Our community comes first. We are called to be good neighbors and often we are quicker to help someone far off than we are to reach out and help our community. This is an effort to care for those around us that we can impact.
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you” John 15:12
